KIMI Zoet

Storytelling is central to Kimi Zoet’s practice — with each place she encounters, a new figure often rises.

At the heart of Kimi Zoet’s practice lies a form of visual storytelling — a way of translating emotion, memory, and narrative into layered, painterly worlds. Her works often begin with writing, fragments of thought, or personal reflection that evolve into images where feeling takes tangible form. Through a soft, intuitive process, she weaves together gesture, texture, and symbolism to explore the spaces between the seen and the felt. Each piece becomes a quiet story — an invitation to dwell in tenderness, to observe inner shifts, and to connect with the subtle beauty that exists in the act of being.

Her recent body of work, MAMMA, exhibited at Silian Gallery, is a more intimate tale, rooted in one particular stretch of time and terrain. It speaks of a bond that feels eternal, yet weightless; of how we learn to move through the world under the gaze of someone — or something — that loves us into being. Her compositions are guided by intuition and feeling — soft gestures, layered tones, and organic forms that capture the intimacy of lived experience. Zoet’s paintings often reflect on themes of care, feminine resilience, and belonging, transforming everyday observations into quiet meditations on love and gratitude.

Through a deeply personal process, Zoet’s work becomes a conversation between the inner and outer world — where emotion takes shape through colour, texture, and the traces of touch. MAMMA reflects on maternal strength and memory through the rhythms of the natural landscape.
